My Shiny Toy Robots

A new little section that I’m trying out, here I’m going to revisit a series that’s extremely close to my heart, and without a doubt had a huge part in me becoming who I am today. The one, the only – Doctor Who. I’ve been watching this show since I was old enough to watch TV, and in anticipation of the 2010 series staring new 11 th Doctor Matt Smith, I’ve been re-watching the older episodes to see how they still stand today. And for my first review I’m taking a look at the story that started it all for me – the 1986 4-part adventure “Remembrance of the Daleks” starring 7 th Doctor Sylvester McCoy. Yes, this was the very first Doctor Who story I ever watched (I think) and it’s still in my top 3 Doctor Who adventures to this date. Set in 1963, the Doctor and his new companion Ace (as portrayed by Sophie Aldred) have returned to Earth, only to find (as is typical with all Doctor Who adventures) there is a sinister plot at hand. The final Autobot pretender! Cloudburst was made using an Energon Skyblast figure, painted using Citadel colours (blood red, regal blue and chaos black). Now that the Masterforce Autobot pretenders are complete, I can turn my attention towards their sworn enemies...the Decepticon pretenders! So far on my classics masterforce completed list is; Metalhawk Lander Diver Phoenix Blackzarak Buster Hydra Not bad, not bad at all I think!

Or "the Blue Arcee bike" if you'd prefer. Yes, this character is only Chromia in toy form, as in the movie it was opted for the Arcee bikes to be a single entity (but since this isn't explicitly stated in the movie, I like to think otherwise). Her alt mode is obviously a blue motorcycle, with some pretty cool looking cybertronian (?) symbol decor. The bike even has a kick stand for those who prefer to display the figure in bike mode. Onto the transformation. Well, given that I knew what her robot mode looked like I didn't expect there to be that much involvement in her transformation, but to be honest I was suprised as alot seems to move around and I found myself quite confused when it came to her torso. The bot mode, unfortuntely, isn't alot home to shout home about. My second toy review! Gurren, the mighty gunmen of Lord Kamina and its tiny partner Lagann, belonging to Kamina's blood brother Simon. Numbering at 066 in the Revoltech Yamaguichi line, Gurren & Lagann are the latest in the long line of both Revoltech Gurren Lagann figures, preceded by Gurren Lagann (and its fully drillized version), Enki/du/dudu, Lazengann, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Fraulein Yoko, and the line itself. As with most Revoltech figures, it comes with a heap of accessories - 4 alternate pairs of hands for Gurren, a 'shades' faceplate and 'shades' blade weapon and even alternate faces, drill hands and drill bottom for the tiny Lagann figure. Articulation is absolutely top notch, as it the standard for Revoltech figures. The alternate hands seem easier to place in then they were on previous figures, and I hope this continues into future releases. Here's the first of my game reviews. And what better place to start than Pokemon Platinum version on the Nintendo DS! Before I begin I should make it clear that this cannot be a FULL review of the game, as I obviously have no yet completeted it (for the record, I've just received my 8th gym badge and about to start my trek down Victory Road), so I will cover everything I've done so far, and provide a brief review of the parts of the game I have no yet seen in a week or so. Now that that's out of the way, let's begin. Pokemon Platinum is the third in the franchise's Sinnoh region saga. Every generation had them - Red and Blue had Yellow , Gold and Silver had Crystal , and Ruby and Sapphire had Emerald . 3 out of 4 Autobot Pretenders done! For the Masterforce pretender leader I used an Energon Windrazor (took me AGES to track one done on ebay for a reasonable price!) and proceeded to add gold, red, blue and white paint. ...I give you the Mighty Thomasformer; The Mighty Thomasformer was born when three Autobot protoforms landed on the island of Sodor. Sworn to protect the land they know call home from the evil Decepticons and those troublesome trucks, the Mighty Thomasformer is truly a force to be reckoned with. Okay so I made that bio up.
