With both the casts of Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger and Bakaryuu Sentai Abaranger having recently reunited for 20th anniversary specials, Super Sentai fans have seemingly entered a golden age of fan-favourite series celebrating this milestone with brand new V-Cinext movies. Following their previous return in both their own 10 Years After film and the short-lived Space Squad series of films, there should have been very little doubt that cast of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger are always ready and willing to give it another round. Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger 20th: Fireball Booster  marks the third 20th anniversary Super Sentai film, with Tomozaku Yoshida even returning to reprise his role as Tekkan/Deka Break despite his retirement from acting in 2018. Series main writer Naruhisa Arakawa returned to pen the film, alongside veteran Super Sentai director Katsuya Watanabe .

The Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club April Fools' joke has become something of an annual tradition now, with them teasing some bizarre joke concept only for them to go and turn it into a viable special. For its 2024 rendition they announced its first ever romance drama in the form of "First Love Detective", to then later reveal the following day that the production was in fact Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger with Tombo Ohger . Coinciding with Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger 's 20th anniversary movie Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger 20th: Fireball Booster , the one-off special reunites the "Girls in Trouble" Jasmine and Umeko in a crossover with Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger 's Yanma Gast .

Crossovers can be a strange thing. Sometimes they can pair up the most unexpected of things (take the recent DC Comics/ Looney Tunes crossover for example) and others are such perfect match ups that you can’t believe they didn’t happen sooner. The pairing of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger and Space Sheriff Gavan definitely counts as the latter. After the roaring success of their 10 Years After special, the space-cop Super Sentai team are back once again and teaming up with the new Gavan , Geki Jumonji – who took on the mantle in the 2012 Gavan movie and subsequently appeared in Super Hero Taisen Z as well as the Next Generation Sharivan and Shaider movies. Space Squad: Gavan vs. Dekaranger isn’t just a match made in heaven, it’s one with its sights set on the wider Sentai and Metal Heroes universes as well.

There are few Super Sentai series that can say they were so popular that they supposedly almost got a second series. In fact, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger may in fact be the only one that can. After a handful of the cast made a brief return for a cameo appearance in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger , the alien-busting police themed Sentai celebrate their 10th anniversary with a one-off V-cinema release. In the same vein as the Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger: 10 Years After special released back in 2013, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger: 10 Years After reunites the cast of the beloved show for a brand new case. Roll back the clocks and pretend for a moment it's still 2005, because it's judgement time once again.

"Five! And with immediate speed, exterminate them!" Finally we come to the last of the core five Dekaranger reviews, but hopefully one day we might see a Deka Break and Deka Master (maybe even Deka Swan? Please Bandai?) joining them. The fifth and final member of the S.H. Figuarts Dekaranger team is none other than Deka Pink , aka Koume "Umeko" Kodou. Deka Pink was released alongside Deka Yellow as a Tamashii Web Exclusive back at the end of May. Much like my thoughts over in the Deka Yellow review, there's something about Pink that really makes the details of the box stand out. The hot shade of pink works really well against the black spines and gunmetal grey/silver backdrop, with all the writing bold and clear. Like her teammate the back of the box only makes reference to a handful of accessories, but there are plenty more waiting inside to be opened up and messed about with. "Four! Fighting malicious intergalactic evil!" It's been quite a few months since the release of Deka Green back in December, but at the end of May Tamashii Nations pulled through and finally completed the core Dekaranger team in S.H. Figuarts form. Deka Yellow , aka Jasmine (or Marika Reimon if you prefer her almost never mentioned real name), was released alongside Deka Pink as Tamashii Web Exclusives , so if you're planning to pick her up be aware she'll fetch you more than the usual Figuart would. I've described the layout of the Dekaranger-style packaging three times already on previous reviews, but I have to say there's something about it in yellow that really makes it stand out above the previous red, blue and green versions. The "4" admittedly does look a little on the squished side, but the yellow writing stands out brilliantly on the window of the box. The back sports the usual action pictures and list of content...

"Three! For the future of scientific investigation!" Hot on the heels of the Tamashii Web exclusive Deka Blue was S.H. Figuarts Deka Green , the third release from Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger . Like Blue, Deka Green is also a web exclusive leaving Red as the only mass release member of the team (unless Deka Break or Deka Master are potentially announced at some stage...but that's unlikely) and was originally released back in December 2012. Bandai 's methods aren't ideal if you're someone planning to buy the whole team, but this is a much better option than not getting the figures at all. Once again we have the standard Dekaranger packaging, only this time in green and sporting a "3" like the ranger inside. The green on the clear window is a brighter shade than the box itself, making the name of the character probably stand out the most on the whole thing.
