Toybox REVIEW: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Zeztz Physicam Impact

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Zeztz Physicam Impact 01

Release Date: December 2025
RRP:7150 yen

Once upon a time collectors would have to wait a good few months to get the latest Kamen Rider S.H. Figuarts release, but with production on new series happening a lot earlier now Bandai Tamashii Nations have also sped up production on their end as well. The last few years have seen new Riders coming out in the early months of the year, but S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Zeztz Physicam Impact arrived just in time to see 2025 out – a mere four months after the series first debuted. Sadly no cheaper price tag this time around (although at 7150 yen he’s still quite reasonable), but both the earlier release date and being a general retail release are fairly reasonably trade-offs.

 A new series means newly designed boxes, with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Zeztz’ coming some very striking packaging that matches the series’ look and colours. The box uses a black, green and red colour scheme, matching the Physicam Impact form with the red and green lines running throughout the design. The front of the box features a nice big image of the figure as well as the character name in a stylised font, complete with a window section to show off the figure inside. One side of the box simply features the character name again, while the other includes a basic shot of the figure to go alongside it. It’s on the back that’s you’ll find the more elaborate array of images, showing the figure off in a variety of poses as well as offering sneak preview of the forthcoming Inazuma Plasma release. Inside, the figure and accessories are neatly stored on their moulded plastic tray.

After a few years of more complex armoured designs, Kamen Rider Zeztz very much feels like a “back to basics” Rider – with his initial range of alternate forms simple palette swaps rather than different-looking suits. Base form Physicam Impact sticks a classic Kamen Rider green and black colour scheme, with added red lines running through the suit to match the compound eyes. The sleek silhouette very much gives off a futuristic Kamen Rider 1 vibe, further emphasised by the beautiful metallic green and red paint used on the figure. Sadly it doesn’t have any sort of glowing gimmickry like the suit does on the show, but there’s always the chance Bandai might release a special glowing variant one day just like they did with Faiz and Kaixa all those years ago. In addition to the metallic paint, most of the black plastic is covered in textured moulding to replicate the fabric used on the suit, while the smooth parts under the arms have additional muscular detailing. While again very simple in its design, the helmet looks great with its giant red compound eyes and thick fin-like antennae sitting just above them.

As the Zeztz Driver is worn like a sash rather than as a belt it is moulded directly onto the torso rather than a separate loose-fitting piece, however the Physicam Impact Capsem is removeable. Simply remove the front plate of the Driver and the Capsem is fully exposed and can be easily taken out. As you’d expect it’s a tiny piece that would be very easy to lose (and the shape means it could also roll away), but it is very nicely realised with clear plastic parts. When you want to want to pop it back into the Driver, the Capsem does have slightly flattened edges on one side to allow it to sit properly in place. These edges are however quite hard to see with the naked eye because of the clear plastic, so you might find yourself rotating it around a bit until it slots into place. While it doesn’t peg firmly onto the torso, once the front plate of the Driver is reattached it will stay firmly in place.

While Zeztz doesn’t introduce any brand-new engineering to the line as a whole it does do some interesting things not usually seen in the Kamen Rider range. Altogether the figure features;
- Ball jointed head, neck, torso, waist and wrists
- Butterfly joint shoulders
- Swivel hinge shoulders, hips and ankles
- Double hinge elbows and knees
- Single hinge toe sections
- Bicep and thigh swivels
The main point of discussion here is naturally going to be the neck joint, which as previously mentioned is covered by a rubbery piece so to not break up the sculpt. Although there is still some movement there, it’s definitely not as much as if it were exposed and there’s always going to be the fear that forcing it might cause it to tear. That said, the head still has plenty of movement so it doesn’t impact the figure quite as much as you’d think. The other notable difference here are the hip joints, that use the segmented “diaper” construction used on a lot of Dragon Ball and Spider-Man figures. The style isn’t to everyone’s tastes, but it does a really good job of providing Zeztz with all the movement he needs without breaking up the sculpt too much. While I’d still be careful moving the legs so not to scuff the textured moulding, after repeated posing it doesn’t appear to be as much as an issue as it was on Gozyu Wolf. Everything else is generally what you’d expect from a mainline S.H. Figuarts release, and Zeztz’ more straightforward design means there’s nothing getting in the way of all that buttery smooth movement. The torso, waist and ankle movement particularly stands out.

Zeztz also comes with quite a generous selection of accessories, mainly because Bandai aren’t requiring collectors to pick up another figure in addition to this for once. Altogether he comes with four additional pairs of hands, as well as the Breakam Zeztzer in sword mode. It definitely helps that each of Zeztz’ forms uses a different mode of the Breakam Zeztzer (as denoted by their colour) so the sword is specific to Physicam Impact, but little details like that haven’t stopped Bandai in the past so it’s still a pleasant surprise. The sword is beautifully moulded, not only with colours matching the figure itself but also a gorgeous blade section done in clear plastic. The gradient from red-tinted to completely clear looks incredible. The Capsem Socket just above the hilt can also be pulled out, allowing the Physicam Impact Capsem (or any other one once more are released) to be loaded into the weapon. Compared to that the hand selection doesn’t seem all that interesting, even if the overall selection has plenty of variety (closed fists, two sets of open hands and two sets of gripping hands). It might not be the most elaborate set of accessories on an S.H. Figuarts release, but when it comes to titular Riders’ default forms the ones that actually include a weapon are always the ones that feel far more complete.

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Zeztz Physicam Impact Impact is a solid first entry for the Kamen Rider Zeztz range, which feels even more vital as it looks as though there’s going be slightly less variety in suit design this year. It’s a pretty straightforward figure that does everything you’d expect an S.H. Figuarts release to do well, though some issues with that rubbery neck piece may be revealed as time begins to pass. Actually getting a weapon with a base form main Rider release is always a lovely bonus too, so fans who were thinking of only picking this figure up from the range won’t ever have to feel like they’re missing out.
