Character Building Doctor Who Microfigures Series 3: The 11th Doctor and Rory

Image
A somewhat belated post (I've had these figures since the beginning of the month), but here's the third instalment in my collection of series 3 Doctor Who minifigures. This time its two characters who have each seen release at least once in the Character Building line, although this time they are sporting very different clothes. The Doctor is (as usual) a common figure, while Rory is among the rare ones for the wave. The most striking thing about this release of the 11th Doctor (which is the fifth mass release version, and the eighth if you include the super rare figures) is that it isn't a variant of the standard twee jacket costume! A selection of the series six episodes saw Matt Smith's Doctor instead where a pea green trench coat, and here it appears in figure form along with suspenders, a blue shirt and red bowtie. Because of the coat the legs can't swing backward, but I feel that's a small price to pay to have a Doctor in a different costume ...

Reviews in Time & Space: Doctor Who Season Seven Part One - An Overview

I know I'm very late to the game writing this, but following my rather strong feelings on Asylum of the Daleks and the fact that the second half of the season won't be airing for a while it seemed appropriate to split this year's Doctor Who review into sections. While the introduction and resolution of Amy and Rory's apparent divorce was abrupt and reasonably pointless, the surprise introduction of Oswin was ver...

This isn't a proper review as such, but more my opinions and ratings on thoughts on what has been my favourite TV show for as long as I can remember. The season began with 'The Impossible Astronaut' ( ★ ★ ★ ★ ) way back in April. The episode was a very strong start for the season, setting up the main plot for the year with the Doctor's death and the introduction of the Silents, who'd had a lot of hype surrounding them prior to beginning of the season. Not only that, but the episode included extensive shooting in the US, which was also a pretty big deal. Exchanges between the Doctor and River began to feel a lot less groan-inducing, and resulted in some pretty good banter between the two. At this stage Rory and Amy were also working well as a married couple. Unfortunately its second part, 'Day of the Moon' ( ★ ...
