Top 5: Most Wanted Star Wars Black Series Figures

Top 5 Most Wanted Star Wars Black Series Figures

This month's top five list is blasting off to a galaxy far, far away and looking at Hasbro's Star Wars Black Series toy line. Though I've only really been collecting these figures for a few years, it's quickly become one of my favourite and most collected toy lines – even though my primary focus has always been on Star Wars television series and video games rather than the movies themselves. As such there are still PLENTY of characters I'd like to see brought into the line, and it was very difficult to narrow it down to just five. So without further ado here are the five figures I'd like most from the Black Series line, and for the sake of ease I've chosen to not include anything from the recent Book of Boba Fett – simply because everything I do want from that series I think I can safely assume Hasbro will be releasing in a year or so.

5. Old Man Rex (Star Wars: Rebels)
Old Man Rex

Of all the characters on this list, Old Man Rex feels like the one most likely to happen one day – especially if all the rumours about him appearing in the forthcoming Ahsoka series pan out. But nevertheless the Rebels version of the legendary Clone Captain is just as important as his Clone Wars counterpart – helping to establish a new rebel base before joining the Rebel Alliance properly. Currently the main issue with the Rebels assortment is that Hasbro seemed to have mainly focused on the main cast and called it a day. But if the adult Ahsoka is considered important enough to be produced alongside the Ghost crew, then Rex most certainly is as well.

4. Pre Vizsla (Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
Pre Vizsla

With Mandalorians being all the rage right now this another one I'm surprised hasn't happened yet, but will almost certainly happen sooner or later. Leader of Death Watch during the Clone Wars, Pre Vizsla is the first person we meet in canon to wield the legendary Dark Saber – eventually losing it when he's deposed and executed by Maul. Though his armour might not be all that different to the Mandalorian Loyalist released in 2020, the changes needed (as well as the need for a proper head sculpt under the helmet) are hopefully extensive enough to put it on the new Mandalorian body instead. While the shoulder cape would be nice, a figure based on his later appearances with the unique helmet would be far more preferable. It would also be nice just to get another Black Series figure that comes with the Dark Saber – we all know a Book of Boba Fett/Mandalorian s3 is going to have it but it would nice to see it with figures a little further back in the timeline too.

3. Ninth Sister (Jedi: Fallen Order)
Ninth Sister

Truth be told I just want to see more Inquisitors in the line, but the Ninth Sister doesn't just stand out for being the most unique Inquistor added to canon so far – she also feels like one of the ones least likely to be made. The Grand Inquisitor and Fifth Brother's chances have shot up with the confirmation that they'll be appearing in Obi-Wan Kenobi (alongside the Third Sister), and at a push we could see the other Rebels ones somewhere down the line even if Hasbro do them via parts reuse. But the Ninth Sister would have to be an all-new mould, and thanks to that hulking Dowutin frame a deluxe one at that. But given her size she'd be a deluxe figure that's actually worth the money for once, adding to the relatively small cast of unique characters from Fallen Order the line has already given us.

2. Savage Opress (Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
Savage Opress

As an instrumental character in both Darth Maul's resurrection and The Clone Wars as a whole, Savage Opress is a must-have for this line. A Dathomiran Nightbrother and Maul's lost-long brother, Savage acted as a pawn in the Nightsister's assassination attempt of Count Dooku before travelling with his brother to enact revenge on Obi Wan-Kenobi and the Jedi. While the line may be lacking a resurrected version of Maul at this current point in time (rumours suggest that is about to change however), a Savage figure would still look great alongside any of the currently released versions – particularly the topless comic variant from last year. The release of the Gaming Greats/Jedi: Fallen Order Nightbrother figure felt like a step in the right direction, but a simple reworking of that figure (which itself is a reworking of the aforementioned Maul) simply wouldn't cut it. As the "bigger" brother in the literal sense of the world, Savage would need a mostly new sculpt.

1. Agent Kallus (Star Wars: Rebels)
Agent Kallus

There are plenty of amazing armoured, alien and droid characters I'd love to see in the Black Series, but my current most wanted release is just a man – a man with one of the best character arcs in the whole franchise. Over the course of Rebels Agent Alexsandr Kallus goes from one of the Rebels' most persistent foes to a rebel spy vital to the early days of the Rebel Alliance. Through him we learn more about how the Galactic Empire treat their own, while his rivalry turned friendship with Zeb produces some of the show's finest moments. The Black Series has barely scratched the surface when it comes to Rebels but even if they were to simply stop at the "main" cast it just wouldn't be complete without Kallus. Personally I'd prefer super sexy rebel spy version from the show's final season, but I'd happily take an Imperial-clad one if it meant just giving him the love he deserves.
