This is definitely something Bandai have had in mind with the Shokugan Modeling Project line - first revisiting Ninja Sentai Kakuranger last year to give fans Ninjaman and now also returning to Chōjin Sentai Jetman to give us the last of its mecha as well. Shokugan Modeling Project Tetra Boy is a Premium Bandai exclusive release, finally giving Jet Icarus and Jet Garuda  in the form of the AI-powered robot with kickboxing skills and the abilities to turn into the formidable Tetra Buster .

Release Date: June 2019 RRP: 6480 yen When it comes to Japanese toy lines collectors often have to wait a few months between releases, but it seems Bandai have got themselves into a nice little groove with their Super Mini-Pla range. Retail releases are often paired up with a related Premium Bandai exclusive , which has resulted in a nice little double whammy of primary and secondary mecha releases on the Super Sentai side of things. So when it was finally Chōjin Sentai Jetman's turn, Jet Icarus was of course paired up with a Super Mini-Pla Jet Garuda release. Of course that Premium Bandai exclusivity does mean this release goes for a slightly higher price than it's counterpart, but as you'll soon see there's more than enough on offer here to ensure that Jet Garuda justifies it.

And though the DX toys certainly have their fans, as far as adult collectors are concerned the future definitely lies in the Super Mini-Pla line. In a few short years Bandai have pulled from all corners of the franchise in their more advanced candy toy range, tackling the likes of Zyuranger , Kakuranger and Megaranger as well as pre- Power Rangers entries such as Liveman . For their second Sentai offering of 2019 Bandai have returned to the year 1991, revisiting Chōjin Sentai Jetman with the Super Mini-Pla Jet Icarus set. As the first toys of these designs in some years, these are undoubtedly the most articulated and affordable Jetman toys currently on the market.

With the S.H. Figuarts line maintaining a constant schedule of a handful of figures every month (both mass release and web exclusive), it's nearly impossible to keep on top of them without a sizeable wallet. As such my latest acquisition was actually released a few years ago, and is only now entering my collection as I try to fill the various Super Sentai shaped gaps. Black Condor is the second of the Chōjin Sentai Jetman to be released in the line, with the rest of the team still sadly absent despite making a brief appearance at the beginning of Akibaranger Season Tsuu . We begin 2013 with a review of a figure released last summer, and another of the Super Sentai red heroes released during the boom of Akibaranger merchandise. To make things even better its a series I recently finished watching and is now one of my firm favourites. Of course its none other than Ryu Tendoh aka Red Hawk, the leader of the Chōjin Sentai Jetman . He is the first of the Jetman to be released, with Black Condor following as a Tamashii web exclusive in October and the remaining three yet to be revealed. He is also the first Sentai Figuart to be released in the US via Bluefin (excluding the Toys R Us exclusive Shinken Red and Gold), however this released lacked the bundled Akibaranger Inordinate power. Red Hawk's packaging is fairly simple, but nicely evokes the early 90s feel of Super Sentai that Jetman comes from. For what will probably be my last past tokusatsu review of 2012, we return to Super Sentai for a series that's widely regarded as one of the best the franchise has to offer. Chōjin Sentai Jetman is the 15th entry, following on from Chikyu Sentai Fiveman . It ran for a total of 51 episodes between 1991 and 1992. Some notable trivia includes the fact it was the last Super Sentai series to not have any form of Power Rangers adaptation, and its success in Japan led to it even receiving a (non-canon) manga sequel. In the year 199X, a defence agency known as the Sky Force protect the peace on Earth. Among its officers are Ryu Tendoh, along with his fiancée Rei Aoi.
